KCS is also called Dry Eyes. The disease is most common in canine species. It decreases the production of tears which can eventually lead to blindness in some cases, KCS may be the outcome of an Immune mediated condition. Tacrolimus therapy helps to stimulate the tear glands and prevent further destruction of tissues. In some animals with KCS resulting from abnormal activity of immune system may need to undergo Tacrolimus therapy throughout life. Tacrolimus is also prescribed as Topical cream or ointment for the treatment of variety of dermatological condition such as Superficial keratitis, Miliary Dermatitis and Atopic Dermatitis.
